Age Verification Policy

Sorry Kids… This One's for the Grown-Ups.

The Bargain Bottle Shop sells alcohol. That means we're legally required to make sure it ends up in the hands of people who are 18 or over. It's not because we enjoy asking awkward questions. It's because we'd quite like to keep our licence.

Entering Our Website

When you first visit our website, we'll ask you to confirm you're 18 or over. This isn't a foolproof age test. But if your birth year starts with "20…" we'd politely suggest coming back in a few years.

Buying Alcohol

By placing an order containing alcohol, you confirm that:

• You are 18 years of age or older.
• You are legally allowed to purchase alcohol in the UK.
• The person receiving the order will also be 18 or over.

Simple as that.

Challenge 25

Our delivery partners operate Challenge 25. That means if you look under 25, they may ask to see valid photo ID. Don't take it personally. Some people spend a fortune trying to look younger.

Accepted ID

If asked, please have one of the following ready:

• Passport
• UK or EU Driving Licence
• PASS Accredited Proof of Age Card

Unfortunately… a gym membership, your mate saying "Yeah, they're definitely 18," or a photo of your passport on your phone… won't do.

If Nobody Is Home

If your order contains alcohol and nobody aged 18 or over is available to accept it:

• ❌ The courier won't leave it with a child.
• ❌ They won't leave it in a safe place.
• ❌ They won't hide it behind the wheelie bin.

Instead, they'll follow their normal undelivered parcel procedure.

Local Delivery

Exactly the same rules apply. Whether we're delivering one street away or across the country: 18+ means 18+.

Alcohol-Free Products

Some products on our website don't contain alcohol. However, because we're primarily an alcohol retailer, we ask all visitors to confirm they're over 18 before entering the site. If your order contains only alcohol-free products, age verification on delivery is generally not required.

Why We Take This Seriously

Because:

• It's the law.
• It helps protect young people.
• It helps protect our business.
• We'd rather spend our time finding ridiculous bargains than explaining ourselves to the licensing authorities.

Refused Delivery

If age verification cannot be completed, the courier may refuse delivery. If this happens, we may deduct any costs charged to us by the courier before issuing a refund, where permitted by law. We know it's disappointing. It's also completely avoidable. Bring some ID.
