Meet Montespina Verdejo Sobre Lías, a Spanish white wine with more sunshine in its personality than a retired British couple living in Benidorm. Hailing from Rueda, the spiritual home of Verdejo, this lively little number brings citrus, orchard fruit and a refreshing zing to the party. Its time resting on the lees adds a little extra texture and character, making it rather more interesting than your average supermarket white.
Why is it a Bargain?
We're more interested in selling you brilliant wine than charging you extra for a fancy vineyard, an expensive marketing department and a winemaker called Alejandro who insists on being photographed staring thoughtfully at grapes.

🍷 Serving Suggestion
Chill to 8–10°C, pour into your favourite glass and find somewhere sunny. If it's raining, close your eyes and pretend you're in Marbella. Avoid sharing with anyone who describes wine as "quite quaffable".

Garlic prawns, grilled fish, tapas, roast chicken and crisps eaten directly from the family-sized bag while deciding what to cook for dinner.

Manuel from Fawlty Towers
Spanish, cheerful, wonderfully entertaining and occasionally responsible for things getting completely out of hand. It arrives full of enthusiasm, brightens everyone's afternoon and before you know it, somebody's shouting "I KNOW NOTHING!" when asked who finished the bottle. Unlike Manuel, however, this Verdejo knows exactly what it's doing. And it's doing it rather well.
